Why this website?

TLDR: Scott has written a lot, and I've been really enjoying it.

I started reading Scott Alexander in 2021, and it has deeply changed my ways of looking at the world. I feel like I've grown in empathy and nuance, and became more understanding toward others and towards points of view I didn't agree with. I have been really inspired by the attempt at intellectual honesty and growth that I found in Scott's writing.

My partner and I are one of those people that read Scott's blogs as a romantic bonding activity. (This summer when friends heard that our date plan was to go to the beach and "read statistics" they looked at us funny. Look, it works for us!)

When it's already late and we need a quick bedtime story it can be hard to find a short post, so I thought maybe I could make a quick website with a filter that would show me posts shorter than 20 minutes to read.

That initial project has grown a bit out of hand...

Feedback and feature requests

If you have any feedback or feature requests, please let me know! I can't promise I'll implement them, but hearing about how you use the website and what you'd like to see is very valuable to guide future development. You can reach me at contact~at~readscottalexander.com.

Find how you can support this website over here.

(The TLDR is to subscribe to Scott Alexander before anything else then donate if you'd like - go read the donation page if you want more context.)

Technical aspects

You can find technical details on how the website works over here, and cost analysis on the donation page.

How does Scott feel about this website existing?

All the writing obviously fully belongs to Scott Alexander and this website wouldn't exist without him putting it out there. Again, you should go support him if you can. The robots.txt file is set to disallow crawling of the posts here, so Google should still direct people to the main blogs when looking for specific articles. I'm in the process of contacting Scott to make sure he's ok with the blog being readable here as well, otherwise just the search will remain.

EDIT: I'm happy to report Scott said he was "definitely okay" with this!

EDIT 2: The website has now been mentioned by Scott in an Open Thread.

Other community SSC/ACX projects

If you have a project related to Scott's work and want me to list it here, send me an email and I'll be happy to add it to the list.
