Supporting this website

TLDR: go subscribe to Scott's SubStack over here first, then donations to support this website are over here.

The first thing you should do if you want to support this website is to support Scott's writing by subscribing to his SubStack - you can do so over here (there's also a discount for students / financial hardship). You can find Scott describing the 2024 state of subscriptions here.

Once you've done that, donations are welcome to help support this website. They'll be used to pay for hosting and for the AI that generates the summaries and the tags (especially if I need to re-run it on the whole corpus), and they'll help me justify spending time expanding this project so it can become better. Thank you very much!

Donations So Far: $0

(I'll update the number manually when it changes)

Technical costs are roughly $100/year (plus initial cost of analyzing the whole corpus):

  • $6/month for hosting on Hetzner
  • ~$1/month for running the AI on new posts
  • ~$10/year for the domain
  • ~$70 one time cost for testing and running the AI on the whole corpus
  • Dev time: I don't have a good estimate of the number of hours I put in, which have been given freely. Though Laravel Livewire makes me really productive it's probably substantial - I hope you like the website, feel free to send feedback otherwise!

Running the AI again on the whole corpus would be nice to get more consistent tagging, I estimate the cost to be around $30-$40.
